Location: Nottingham
Commutable from: Derby, Long Eaton, Ilkeston, Mansfield, Newark-on-Trent, Hucknall, West Bridgford
Salary: £17.00 - £18.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, Day Shift (Flexible start and finish times available)
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Miller Programmer to join a growing precision engineering business based in Nottingham. Working within a modern machine shop, you'll be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines, producing high-quality precision components for a range of industries.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working on a variety of one-off and batch work, has a strong eye for detail and takes pride in producing components to the highest standards.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
* Programming CNC milling machines using Fanuc controls.
* Creating, editing and optimising programmes to improve machining efficiency.
* Setting and operating CNC milling machines.
* Selecting appropriate tooling, fixtures and workholding.
* Manufacturing one-off and batch components from engineering drawings.
* Working on mainly 3 Axis, 4 Axis and 5 Axis milling machines, including Brother Speedio machining centres.
* Carrying out tool changes and adjusting offsets.
* Producing first-off components and completing first-off inspections.
* Inspecting finished components using verniers, micrometers, bore gauges and height gauges.
* Reporting any quality issues or non-conformances.
* Supporting continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
* Maintaining programme documentation and machine records.
* Carrying out routine machine maintenance and maintaining a clean, organised work area.
* Following all health and safety procedures at all times.
About You
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
* Previous experience as a CNC Miller within a precision engineering environment.
* Experience programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines using Fanuc controls.
* Experience working with 3 Axis, 4 Axis and 5 Axis milling machines.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Strong inspection skills using a range of measuring equipment.
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Good communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
* Experience working with Brother Speedio machining centres.
* Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification.
