Hays are working with a leading international manufacturing organisation who is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Planner to join its UK Supply Chain team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a planning professional to take ownership of raw material and packaging supply across a complex manufacturing network, ensuring product availability, inventory optimisation, and excellent service levels. Working closely with suppliers, manufacturing sites, purchasing teams and logistics providers, you will play a key role in supporting operational performance while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
Your new role
As a Supply Chain Planner, your role will involve:
Supply Planning & Inventory Management.
Manage the planning and procurement of raw materials and packaging to support manufacturing requirements.
Raise, monitor and manage purchase orders to ensure continuity of supply.
Maintain optimal inventory levels whilst balancing cost, service and operational objectives.
Review stock performance, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions.
Participate in inventory review processes, providing analysis and recommendations.
Stakeholder & Supplier Management
Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with production planning, logistics and customer-facing teams to ensure smooth material flow.
Proactively communicate supply risks, delays or shortages.
Support supplier performance improvement initiatives and escalation activities where required.
Identify opportunities to improve supply chain efficiency, visibility and performance.
Support inventory optimisation and product rationalisation initiatives.
Manage supply disruptions and implement mitigation plans to minimise operational impact.
Contribute to the development and implementation of best-practice supply chain processes.
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience within Supply Planning, Materials Planning, Inventory Planning or Supply Chain Planning.
Strong understanding of inventory management principles and supply chain processes.
Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or similar.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
Manufacturing or FMCG industry experience.
Experience managing supplier relationships.
Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives.
Knowledge of KPI reporting and inventory optimisation techniques.
