An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Pipeline Engineer to join a global engineering organisation delivering complex energy projects across the world.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of offshore and onshore developments, supporting projects from early concept through FEED, detailed design and execution. Alongside traditional oil and gas developments, you'll also contribute to major energy transition initiatives including Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS), hydrogen and other low-carbon infrastructure.
This role offers significant technical autonomy, exposure to international projects and the opportunity to influence engineering standards across a growing global business.
The Role As Principal Pipeline Engineer, you'll act as the technical authority for pipeline engineering on major capital projects, leading engineering teams and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality pipeline design solutions.
You'll work across both greenfield and brownfield developments, providing expertise throughout the full project lifecycle while mentoring engineers and collaborating closely with multiple engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Lead pipeline engineering activities across Concept Select, FEED, detailed design and project execution.
Act as Project Discipline Lead on major EPC and engineering projects.
Provide technical leadership and mentor pipeline engineers and designers.
Deliver the design of offshore and onshore rigid pipeline systems.
Review and approve pipeline philosophies, specifications and engineering calculations.
Lead routing studies, wall thickness design, stress analysis, spanning, buckling, expansion, tie-ins and crossing designs.
Support trenchless technologies including HDD and microtunnelling where required.
Prepare technical requisitions, datasheets and Invitation to Tender (ITT) documentation.
Participate in technical bid evaluations and supplier assessments.
Review third-party engineering and installation activities.
Work closely with Process, Flow Assurance, Materials, Civil, Construction and Commissioning teams.
Support inspection, integrity management and maintenance strategies.
Maintain compliance with international engineering standards and HSEQ requirements.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering procedures and technical standards.
Undertake occasional international travel to project sites, fabrication facilities and regional offices.About You

Pipeline mechanical design and stress analysis.

Technical leadership and project discipline management.
EPC project environments.
International engineering standards including DNV, API, ISO, ASME and BS.Software Experience
Experience with the following is highly desirable:
DNV pipeline design software
SESAM Pipeline Package
PET
AutoPIPE
SAGE Profile
AGA
Exposure to Ansys, ABAQUS and OrcaFlex would be advantageous.Qualifications
Degree in Pipeline Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Offshore Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
Significant experience delivering pipeline engineering projects within the energy sector.
Strong communication, planning and stakeholder management skills.
