Expert Witness Surveyor – Cornwall

Our client, a well-established and highly respected property consultancy based in Cornwall, is seeking an experienced Expert Witness Surveyor to join their growing team.

This is a unique opportunity to become part of a specialist practice with an excellent reputation for delivering independent expert witness services across a broad range of residential and commercial property matters. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced team, providing impartial, evidence-based advice for legal proceedings, arbitration, mediation, and dispute resolution.

The Role You will be responsible for:

Preparing independent Expert Witness reports in accordance with Civil Procedure Rules (CPR Part 35).
Undertaking property inspections and detailed technical investigations.
Analysing construction defects, boundary disputes, valuation matters, and other property-related issues.
Providing clear, impartial opinions supported by robust evidence.
Liaising with solicitors, barristers, insurers, and private clients.
Attending meetings, mediations, tribunals, and court proceedings where required.
Managing your own caseload while maintaining the highest professional standards. About You To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:

MRICS, FRICS, MCIOB, or an equivalent professionally recognised qualification.
Significant experience within Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Valuation, or a related property discipline.
Previous Expert Witness experience is highly desirable, although candidates with extensive dispute resolution or forensic surveying experience looking to move into Expert Witness work will also be considered.
A thorough understanding of CPR Part 35 and the responsibilities of an Expert Witness is advantageous.
Excellent report writing and analytical skills.
Outstanding communication skills with the confidence to present technical evidence clearly and objectively.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex instructions.
