Job Description
TEKsystems Banking client are looking for a Back End engineer with strong Java and Spring Boot experience to help build and enhance scalable Back End services that power modern digital banking platforms. The role involves designing and developing microservices and RESTful APIs, working within AWS cloud environments, and collaborating with agile engineering teams to deliver resilient, secure, and high-performing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Back End services and APIs that support customer-facing financial products.
- Produce clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-documented code that aligns with engineering standards.
- Build highly available, resilient, and scalable microservices to support cloud-native architectures.
- Develop event-driven solutions using modern messaging technologies to support distributed systems.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decision-making for Back End platforms.
- Develop and deploy applications within AWS cloud environments, following best practices for security and scalability.
- Support containerised workloads using Kubernetes and Docker to ensure efficient deployment and orchestration.
- Contribute to infrastructure automation and DevOps best practices to streamline delivery and operations.
- Ensure observability and monitoring across services, promoting operational excellence and reliability.
- Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, QA Engineers, Designers, and Business Stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and technical refinement sessions.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, robust technical solutions that meet functional and non-functional needs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering teams, including process, tooling, and quality enhancements.
- Act as a subject matter expert within the engineering team on Back End technologies and patterns.
- Mentor junior developers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to foster their growth.
- Promote engineering standards, code review best practices, and software craftsmanship across the team.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the Back End engineering chapter, exploring new tools, patterns, and approaches.
Essential Skills
- Strong commercial experience in Back End software development.
- Deep knowledge of Spring Boot and/or Micronaut frameworks for building Back End services.
- Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns and distributed systems.
- experience working with AWS services and cloud-native architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker for containerised workloads.
- Knowledge of messaging technologies and event-driven systems.
- experience working in Agile delivery environments, including participation in standard Agile ceremonies.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities, particularly in complex distributed environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Work Environment

You will collaborate closely with product, QA, design, and business stakeholders in a cross-functional setup, using modern tooling and infrastructure automation to support efficient, high-quality delivery.
Location: Warsaw - 2 days per month onsite
