Field / Workshop Service Engineer (CNC)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Experience: Ideally 6+ years' practical experience (engineers with less experience may also be considered depending on their skill set).
Our client is seeking an experienced Field / Workshop Service Engineer to join their growing team. This is a varied role combining workshop-based machine preparation with field service, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and customer support across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, commission and test CNC machinery
* Carry out installation, servicing, maintenance and repairs at sites throughout the UK.
* Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and control system faults both on-site and remotely.
* Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
* Test electrical circuits, measure voltages, currents and signals, and diagnose NO/NC control circuits.
* Set up and calibrate machines, including tramming, squareness checks and optimisation.
* Configure and adjust CNC controllers, servo drives, inverters and machine parameters.
* Work with CNC programming, macros, PLCs, ladder logic and servo systems.
* Use CAD/CAM software to test machines, create demonstration programs and provide customer training.
* Identify machine improvements and upgrade opportunities where appropriate.
* Ensure every machine leaving the workshop is fully tested, fault-free and presented to a high standard.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
* Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, CNC Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Workshop Engineer working with CNC machinery.
* Strong fault-finding skills across electrical, mechanical and control systems.
* Good knowledge of CNC controllers
* The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
* Experience using CAD/CAM software.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and customer service.
* A full UK driving licence
