Reporting To: Operations Manager
The Role
Winsearch is recruiting for a Lean Facilitating Supervisor to join a well-established manufacturing business in Ashton-under-Lyne.
This role combines frontline production leadership with continuous improvement responsibility across Assembly, Primary and SMT operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing team capability, driving operational performance and embedding Lean Manufacturing principles throughout the business.
You will be a visible presence on the shop floor, leading by example and supporting a culture focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People performance.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Development
Lead, motivate and develop production teams to achieve operational and business objectives.
Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, teamwork and continuous improvement.
Manage employee performance through coaching, feedback and development activities.
Identify training requirements and support succession planning.
Encourage employee involvement in problem-solving and improvement initiatives.
Act as a role model for company values and behaviours.
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
Drive the implementation and sustainability of Lean Manufacturing principles across production operations.
Lead improvement activities focused on productivity, efficiency, quality and waste reduction.
Coach and develop employees in Lean tools and methodologies.
Facilitate Kaizen events and improvement workshops.
Challenge existing practices and support the introduction of improved ways of working.
Embed a culture of continuous improvement across all areas.
Operational Performance
Support the achievement of daily, weekly and monthly production targets.
Monitor and improve operational performance through KPI management.
Identify inefficiencies and implement sustainable solutions.
Work closely with operational teams to remove barriers to performance.
Deliver measurable improvements in productivity and operational effectiveness.
Health, Safety & Quality
Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental standards.
Support investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Drive right-first-time quality performance.
Ensure procedures and standards are consistently followed.
Workplace Organisation
Lead workplace organisation initiatives including 6S activities.
Maintain high housekeeping and visual management standards.
Support TPM activities and equipment ownership across manufacturing teams.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
Experience in a Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, Team Leader, Lean Leader or Continuous Improvement role within a manufacturing environment.
Proven people management and team development experience.
Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Experience driving operational and cultural change.
Ability to coach, mentor and influence teams at all levels.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Sound understanding of Health & Safety and Quality requirements within manufacturing environments.
Desirable
Experience within assembly, electronics, SMT, fabrication or electro-mechanical manufacturing.
Lean Practitioner, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent qualification.
Knowledge of TPM, Value Stream Mapping and Daily Management Systems.
Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
Engineering or Manufacturing qualification.
