SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School
Location: London & Surrounding Areas
About the Role
Destination Education is currently recruiting for dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join welcoming and inclusive primary schools. With the new academic year approaching, we are working on and expecting a variety of exciting SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities for September across London and the surrounding areas.
Working alongside the class teacher and SENCo, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. You will play an important role in creating a positive learning environment, encouraging independence, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
Assist in implementing EHCPs and individual learning plans.
Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
Adapt learning activities and classroom resources to meet individual needs.
Encourage positive behaviour and promote an inclusive learning environment.
Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.The Ideal Candidate
Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs in a primary school setting.
Knowledge of SEN including ASD, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
