TimePlan Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist residential setting in Tiverton for caring and dedicated SEN Support Workers to support profoundly deaf young people with their day-to-day needs.

This is a fantastic temp-to-perm opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You'll be working in a welcoming residential environment, helping residents develop independence, confidence, and life skills while ensuring they receive the highest standard of care and support.

The Role

As a Residential SEN Support Worker, you will:

Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to profoundly deaf young people in a specialist residential setting.
Support residents with daily living activities, personal development, and independence.
Encourage participation in social, recreational, educational, and community activities.
Build positive relationships and create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to deliver outstanding care.
Support young people to engage with the Deaf community and attend Deaf events where appropriate.
Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the residential home.

Communication & Specialist Support

The young people you will support are profoundly deaf and communicate using British Sign Language (BSL), supported by AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices and visual communication methods.

While previous BSL experience is desirable, it is not essential. Full training and BSL courses will be provided based on your current experience and qualifications.

The home is equipped with specialist technology designed to support sensory needs, including:

Specialist fire alarm systems
Vibrating alert systems
Minicom facilities
Internet and video communication technology

What We're Looking For

We're looking for compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic individuals who:

Have a genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND.
Are caring, reliable, and committed to making a positive impact.
Have experience in care, education, support work, or residential settings (desirable but not essential).
Have some knowledge of British Sign Language (desirable).
Are willing to undertake training and continue developing professionally.
Can work effectively as part of a supportive team.
