This is an excellent opportunity to support children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and other Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will play a key role in helping pupils reach their full potential in a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
*
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD and other SEN.
*
Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
*
Assist pupils with personal care where required, ensuring their dignity and well-being are maintained at all times.
*
Promote pupils' independence, confidence, and emotional well-being.
*
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to meet individual learning needs.
*
Follow the school's policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection, behaviour management, and health and safety.
*
Monitor and record pupils' progress where appropriate.
*
Supervise pupils before, during, and after school sessions when required.
Requirements
*
At least 3 months' experience supporting children with PMLD, SEN, or complex learning needs in a school or similar setting.
*
Experience providing 1:1 support for children with additional needs.
*
A good understanding of PMLD and the ability to support pupils with communication difficulties, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and complex medical needs.
*
A caring, patient, and compassionate approach.
*
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
*
The ability to remain calm and manage challenging behaviour effectively.
*
Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and flexible.
*
A genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
