This is an excellent opportunity to support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and other Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will play a key role in providing high-quality support and helping pupils achieve their full potential within a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience supporting children or young people with ASD, PMLD, or other complex learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
*
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASD, PMLD, and other Special Educational Needs.
*
Assist teachers with the delivery of engaging and inclusive learning activities.
*
Support pupils with personal care where required, ensuring their dignity and well-being are maintained at all times.
*
Encourage pupils' independence, confidence, and emotional well-being.
*
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to meet individual learning needs.
*
Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
*
Follow all school policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection, behaviour management, and health and safety.
*
Monitor and record pupils' progress where appropriate.
*
Supervise pupils before, during, and after school sessions as required.
Requirements
*
A minimum of 3 months' experience supporting children or young people with ASD, PMLD, SEN, or complex learning needs in a school or similar setting.
*
Experience providing 1:1 support for children with additional needs.
*
A good understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and associated behavioural and communication needs.
*
The ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*
The ability to adapt to individual pupils' needs and support personalised learning.
*
A caring, patient, enthusiastic, and proactive approach.
*
Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and committed to supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
*
The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
