A specialist project management consultancy in Nottingham is looking for a Senior Project Manager to support major public sector infrastructure and built environment programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Project Manager with strong pre-contract experience to lead complex, governance-led projects for public authorities and regional stakeholders.
The Senior Project Manager will focus on programme set-up, governance, stakeholder management, and multidisciplinary coordination during the early stages of major projects. This Senior Project Manager role would suit a capable Senior Project Manager who understands structured public sector decision-making and can establish clear reporting, approvals, risks, responsibilities, and delivery controls. The successful Senior Project Manager will bring broader infrastructure, regeneration, or built environment experience rather than a career focused almost entirely on education, healthcare, defence, nuclear, or aviation projects.
You must have prior construction consultancy experience to be considered for this role.
The Senior Project Manager's role
The Senior Project Manager will lead projects through feasibility, business case development, programme mobilisation, procurement planning, and the wider pre-contract process.
The Senior Project Manager will establish governance structures, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage senior stakeholders, monitor project risks, and ensure schemes progress through formal approval gateways.
The Senior Project Manager will work closely with public authorities, technical consultants, engineers, commercial teams, and delivery partners. Responsibilities will include programme reporting, assurance, change control, procurement support, stakeholder engagement, and maintaining robust project controls throughout the early stages of delivery.
The Senior Project Manager
The successful Senior Project Manager will have:
Prior experience working within a construction consultancy environment
Strong pre-contract project and programme management experience
Experience across public sector infrastructure, regeneration, or wider built environment projects
Experience working with public authorities and senior stakeholders
A proven ability to establish project governance and reporting structures
Experience managing multidisciplinary consultant teams
Knowledge of structured project management methodologies such as PRINCE2 would be beneficial
A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, or a related discipline
MRICS, MAPM, MCIOB, CEng, or another relevant professional qualification
Strong communication, leadership, commercial, and risk management skills
The ability to travel across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire when required
In Return?
£60,000 - £75,000
Pension contribution
Professional membership fees paid
Major public sector infrastructure programmes
Exposure to regeneration and built environment projects
Leadership responsibility on high-profile commissions
Clear career progression opportunities
Supportive and collaborative consultancy environment
