Year 1 Teacher

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Islington is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join their team from September 2026 on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to join a supportive school with a strong focus on high-quality teaching, pupil wellbeing, and professional development. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting children through the transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1.

The successful candidate will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally in a Year 1 class
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and the transition from EYFS
Have secure knowledge of phonics programmes, such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.
Deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners
Have high expectations for behaviour, achievement, and pupil progress
Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
Be committed to contributing to the wider life of the school

The role will involve:

Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum
Preparing pupils for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check through high-quality phonics teaching
Monitoring and assessing pupil progress to ensure excellent outcomes
Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Working collaboratively with the Key Stage 1 team to maintain high standards of teaching and learning
