Managing Quantity Surveyor- Major Highways
Location: Fully Site Based, Lincoln
Contract: Initial 6-Month Contract - Likely to Extend
Rate: £630 per day Umbrella
Hours: 45 hours per week - Monday to Friday
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading Tier 1 highways contractor seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to support a major highways and structures package.
The immediate focus will be assessing design-led price changes, managing a significant compensation event and leading commercial engagement with National Highways. You will also manage the existing commercial team and support the project through the target price process.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the commercial management of a major highways and structures package.
Assess the impact of design changes and complete a detailed price refresh.
Manage a significant compensation event under NEC Option C.
Lead commercial engagement and negotiations with National Highways.
Present and substantiate cost changes to the client.
Work closely with operational, design and engineering teams.
Provide commercial support across several major bridge structures.
Manage and support the existing quantity surveying team.
Provide clear commercial direction across the wider project.
Monitor costs, forecasts, risk and commercial performance.
Support the development and agreement of the target price.Requirements
Essential:
Proven experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or senior commercial lead on major highways or infrastructure projects.
Strong experience working on major structures or bridge packages.
Extensive NEC contract experience, ideally NEC Option C.
Demonstrable experience managing compensation events and significant change.
Strong client-facing and commercial negotiation skills.
Experience managing and developing a commercial team.
Willingness to work fully on site from Monday to Friday.Desirable:
Previous experience engaging directly with National Highways.
Previous experience working for a Tier 1 highways contractor.What's on Offer
