Location: PL19 0Z Devon
Pay Rate: £14.82 per hour PAYE
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Contract: Temporary Contract
About the Role
We are looking for a Facilities Officer to support the effective maintenance and operation of a busy office campus in Tavistock. This is a hands on, varied role that will involve carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, supporting health and safety compliance, and ensuring facilities are safe, clean, and well presented for staff and visitors.
The successful candidate will have experience in building maintenance and facilities management, with practical skills across one or more trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical maintenance, or general building repairs.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out a wide range of internal and external repair and maintenance tasks across office buildings and grounds.
Complete planned preventative maintenance and respond to reactive maintenance requests.
Perform basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and general building maintenance works in line with qualifications and experience.
Prioritise and action facilities helpdesk requests based on urgency and operational impact.
Conduct Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and maintain accurate records.
Identify, report, and resolve health and safety hazards.
Liaise with contractors and ensure all relevant documentation, risk assessments, and safety procedures are in place before work commences.
Assist with meeting room setups and ensure facilities are presented to a high standard.
Support fire safety procedures, including alarm testing, equipment checks, and Fire Warden duties.
Maintain key management and support access control systems.
Build strong working relationships with staff, visitors, contractors, and suppliers.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Previous experience in facilities management, property maintenance, or a similar environment.
A trade qualification or proven experience in a building trade such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, or general maintenance.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Good IT skills and the ability to use maintenance management systems.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
A proactive and flexible approach to work.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the confidence to work independently when required.
