Contract Project Engineer - Pharma - Cork The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join its Global Engineering & Technology team at their Cork manufacturing site for a 12 month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of capital and engineering projects within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment.
You will be responsible for leading engineering projects from initial concept and scope development through to commissioning, qualification and project close-out, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and in line with business, quality and safety objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
Lead the successful delivery of engineering projects, ensuring objectives are achieved safely, on schedule and within budget.
Define project scope and support capital approval processes.
Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts and resource requirements.
Coordinate project activities across multiple departments and external contractors.
Drive commissioning, qualification and start-up activities.
Monitor project risks and implement mitigation plans where required.
Lead project review activities, including lessons learned and performance assessments.
Technical & Engineering Support
Troubleshoot process and equipment issues.
Review existing systems, including structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and safety aspects.
Coordinate updates to engineering documentation, drawings and P&IDs.
Conduct constructability, maintainability and operability reviews.
Investigate engineering deviations and drive corrective actions.
Provide technical training and support where required.
Stakeholder & Team Collaboration
Lead and participate in cross-functional project teams.
Build strong relationships with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Facilities, MSAT and Validation teams.
Provide regular project updates to senior management and key stakeholders.
Coordinate supplier and contractor activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and open communication.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with GMP, GDP and EHS requirements.
Maintain engineering documentation in line with site procedures.
Support the manufacture of quality medicines through compliant project execution.
Complete all required training and maintain compliance with site standards.
Champion safe working practices and lead by example.
About You
Essential Requirements
Degree qualification in Engineering or Science.
Minimum 3 years' experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience delivering engineering projects within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of pharmaceutical engineering and project delivery principles.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Highly Desirable
Experience within an API Pharmaceutical Manufacturing environment.
Formal Project Management qualification.
Lean Six Sigma or equivalent problem-solving methodology training.
Experience working within a multinational pharmaceutical organisation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Results-driven with a proactive approach.
Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
