Are you an experienced Project Manager with a strong background delivering station maintenance projects within the rail industry?

Do you have a thorough understanding of the operational railway and experience managing station refurbishments, minor works or multidisciplinary rail projects?

Are you looking for a permanent opportunity offering autonomy, hybrid working and responsibility for projects across Kent and the wider Southern region?

Location: London office with projects in the Kent and Southern Region + hybrid working
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum DOE
Benefits:
·Company van and fuel card, including tolls and congestion charges

·25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
·Holiday entitlement increasing after five years of service, up to 28 days
·Company pension following successful completion of probation
·Healthcare and eye care benefits following successful completion of probation
·Company phone, laptop and printer

Role Overview:

My client is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of rail infrastructure projects across Kent and the wider Southern region.

The role will primarily focus on projects delivered through a major Southern rail enhancement framework, including station refurbishments, minor works, surveys, remedial works and upcoming EV charging point installations.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and growing rail contractor that offers its Project Managers a high degree of trust and autonomy. You will be responsible for managing your own diary, overseeing projects from planning through to delivery and making key decisions without unnecessary micromanagement.

The successful candidate will spend their time between project sites, client meetings and the company office. This is a genuinely hybrid position and is not a five-day-a-week office-based role.
You will take ownership of project delivery, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. You will also be responsible for coordinating site teams and suppliers, monitoring progress and maintaining strong relationships with clients and wider stakeholders.

The role would suit an experienced rail Project Manager who has progressed through a technical, engineering or supervisory background and understands the practical challenges of delivering work within a live railway environment.

Key Responsibilities:
·Manage the delivery of station refurbishment, minor works, survey and remedial projects across Kent and the Southern region
·Take responsibility for projects from initial planning through to completion
·Manage project programmes, resources, suppliers and approved subcontractors
·Attend project sites to monitor quality, sequencing, safety and progress
·Maintain regular communication with clients and provide clear project updates
·Coordinate site teams, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders
·Manage project risks, commercial considerations and delivery requirements
·Ensure works are completed safely, on programme and in line with client expectations
·Maintain accurate project documentation, progress reports and site records
·Manage your own diary and make informed decisions to keep projects moving forward

Essential Requirements:
·Previous experience working as a Project Manager within the rail industry
·Strong understanding of the operational railway and the requirements of working in a live rail environment
·Experience delivering station refurbishments, minor works, building works or multidisciplinary railway projects
·Experience managing site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
·Full UK driving licence
·A technical, engineering or railway supervisory background would be highly desirable
·Experience working on Network Rail frameworks would be advantageous

This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful rail contractor that offers long-term career development, genuine autonomy and the opportunity to take ownership of a varied portfolio of projects.

The company has a supportive and people-focused culture, with employees rewarded through regular salary reviews and a twice-yearly bonus scheme linked to departmental and individual performance.
