An established and growing specialist within the fire door sector is looking to appoint an experienced Estimating Team Lead/Manager to head up its estimating function. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior estimator or existing estimating manager looking to play a key role in developing a high-performing team while remaining involved in technically challenging tenders.

You'll lead the estimating process from enquiry through to handover, ensuring quotations are accurate, commercially competitive and technically compliant, while supporting the continued growth of the business.

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the estimating department, overseeing tender submissions and driving continual improvements across estimating processes and team performance.

Key responsibilities include:

* Lead and mentor a team of estimators, providing coaching, technical guidance and performance management

* Manage fire door tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and project handover

* Produce and review estimates using Schedule of Rates (SOR) pricing and first-principles estimating

* interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation to develop accurate pricing solutions

* Review technical proposals to ensure commercially viable and compliant solutions

* Manage tender programmes, internal approvals and submission deadlines

* Identify commercial, contractual and technical risks within tenders

* Liaise with clients throughout the tender process, responding to technical and commercial queries

* Work closely with internal sales and operational teams to ensure a smooth transition from tender to delivery

* Monitor estimating pipeline, team performance and key business metrics

* Support continuous improvement of estimating procedures and customer service standards

We're looking for an experienced estimator with leadership capability and a strong understanding of fire door projects.

You will ideally have:

* Previous estimating experience within passive fire protection, fire doors or a closely related construction discipline

* Experience leading, mentoring or managing an estimating team

* Strong understanding of Schedule of Rates and/or first-principles estimating

* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

* Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail

* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

* Good IT skills and experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office

* The ability to prioritise multiple tenders while maintaining accuracy under pressure
