Full-time On Site, 5 days per week - Stoke-on-Trent
SAP Business Analyst - Permanent - Full-time On Site - Stoke-on-Trent - £60,000-£80,000
Important: This role requires hands-on SAP experience. Applications without a demonstrable SAP background will not be considered. The position is full time on site in Stoke-on-Trent, five days per week - local candidates or those able to commute reliably are strongly encouraged to apply.
TalentBank Technology is retained by a Stoke-on-Trent manufacturing business to appoint a permanent SAP Business Analyst into a major greenfield SAP S/4HANA implementation - with a clear path to becoming the company's long-term SAP Business Analyst once the system is live.
The business is implementing SAP S/4HANA from the ground up - no existing ERP documentation, transitioning from Legacy platforms to standard SAP best-practice processes across finance (FI/CO) and supply chain/logistics (MM/SD). The appointed analyst will be Embedded in the programme from day one, working alongside the Programme Manager and the external SAP integrator, learning the solution architecture as it is designed and built rather than inheriting it afterwards.
The client is open on level. This role suits either a mid-level analyst (circa 1-4 years) with the ambition and capability to grow into the senior seat as the programme matures, or an established senior SAP BA ready to operate as the functional bridge between the business and the programme from the outset. Salary within the range will reflect the level of the appointment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in mapping AS-IS Legacy workflows to standard TO-BE SAP processes, identifying gaps and potential configuration and customisation
- Elicit and document business requirements through design workshops and user interviews, translating them into clear Business Requirement Documents for the SAP implementation partner
- Document business change impacts arising from the TO-BE SAP processes, feeding the Business Change workstream (communications, training)
- Understand and document configuration Change Requests for approval by the programme's Design Authority
- Support data migration - cleansing, extraction and validation of Legacy data into the new SAP environment
- Create comprehensive test scripts for System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing; coordinate testing cycles, logging and tracking defects through to resolution
- Develop training manuals, user guides and standard operating procedures; deliver training sessions to drive adoption
- Provide dedicated hypercare support to business users following go-live
- Post go-live: own business analysis across the SAP landscape - process improvement, change requests and continuous improvement
Required Experience
- Hands-on SAP experience is essential at either level:
- Mid-level: 1-4 years as an SAP Business Analyst, Support Analyst or Key User heavily involved in a system rollout, with foundational knowledge of SAP FI/CO (GL, AP, AR) and MM or SD, plus exposure to any stage of an implementation life cycle
- Senior: 5+ years as an SAP Business Analyst with strong functional knowledge across FI/CO, MM and SD, demonstrable experience across P2P, O2C and R2R, and full-life cycle implementation or transformation programme delivery
- Direct experience of a greenfield SAP S/4HANA implementation or template rollout is highly desirable
- Familiarity with data migration tools (SAP Migration Cockpit, LSMW) an advantage
- SAP certification in FI, CO, MM or SD an advantage
- Strong communication skills - able to explain complex SAP behaviour in simple language to users transitioning to the system for the first time
- Able to commit to five full days per week on site in Stoke-on-Trent - this is a firm requirement
Salary is £60,000-£80,000 dependent on experience and will reflect the level of the appointment. The client's priority is finding the right person - budget is not the constraint.
