E&I (Electrical and Instrumentation) Technician
Dornan Engineering Group is a leading international engineering contractor delivering high-value projects across Europe, UK & Ireland. Based in Ringaskiddy, Cork, this is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Dornan team as an E & I Technician, supporting the delivery of our Pharmaceutical project. Due to the continuous growth with Dornan Engineering, we are currently looking to recruit experienced E & I Technicians to join the company on exciting projects. You will join Dornan's hard working and ambitious project teams and you will benefit from a supportive culture, where your ideas and contributions will be recognised.
Your day to day will include:
Install, terminate, and test electrical power, control, and instrumentation cabling.
Install electrical equipment including motors, MCCs, distribution boards, control panels, and variable speed drives (VSDs).
Install and commission field instrumentation such as pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensors, level instruments, and control valves.
Perform instrument calibration and maintain calibration records in accordance with GMP requirements.
Conduct loop checking and functional testing of instruments and control systems.
Assist with PLC, DCS, and SCADA I/O testing and verification.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
Troubleshoot and rectify electrical, instrumentation, and control system faults.
Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for process and utility systems.
Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment.
Complete testing, commissioning, and maintenance documentation accurately and in line with Good Documentation Practice (GDP).
Participate in Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Installation Qualification (IQ), and Operational Qualification (OQ) activities.
Ensure compliance with GMP, site quality standards, and project specifications.
Follow Permit-to-Work systems, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
About you
Qualified Electrician with relevant Instrumentation experience (or equivalent E&I qualification)
3+ years' proven experience in industrial, pharmaceutical, or process environments
Maintenance experience required
Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, motors, VSDs, and instrumentation (pressure, flow, level, temperature, etc.)
Qualifications
Electrical Craft Certificate is essential
Safe Pass and Manual Handling
Desirable Instrumentation Qualifications
Qualification or certification in Industrial Instrumentation and Control.
Instrument Calibration and Process Control training.
City & Guilds or equivalent Instrumentation certification.
