Fabric Engineer – Derby
£33,000: Competitive | Permanent Position
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Technician / Fabric Engineer to join a busy Facilities Management team, providing high-quality maintenance support within a large commercial environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled tradesperson with strong building fabric experience who enjoys a varied role covering planned and reactive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks
Complete building fabric repairs including ceilings, walls, painting, skirting, doors and general refurbishment works
Fault finding and diagnosing issues across the building fabric
Carry out inspections and identify defects before they become larger issues
Service and repair doors, fixtures, fittings and general building elements
Support fire door inspections and water hygiene checks (training provided)
Assist with minor plumbing, electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks
Liaise with contractors and ensure works are completed safely and to a high standard
Maintain accurate records, stock levels and maintenance documentation
Support general site operations and health & safety requirements
The Ideal Candidate:
Time-served tradesperson with a recognised trade background (joinery/carpentry preferred)
Previous experience within commercial building maintenance or facilities management
Strong building fault-finding skills and ability to work independently
Good understanding of health & safety procedures
Reliable, self-motivated and able to use initiative
Full UK driving licence
Good communication and organisational skills
Experience with fire doors, basic plumbing, electrical systems and general building services would be advantageous.
