We're recruiting on behalf of our NHS client for experienced, ACC accredited Clinical Coders to join their team on a temporary basis with an immediate start. In this role, you'll play a vital part in translating complex clinical information into accurate national codes, directly supporting patient data quality, national reporting, and Trust funding through the NHS Payment Scheme.
If you're a confident, detail-driven coder who takes pride in accuracy and consistency, your work will have a real and measurable impact on how the Trust is resourced and how patient care is reported.
What you'll be doing:
Accurately translating complex clinical information from patient records into ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes, in line with National Clinical Coding Standards
Extracting and analysing detailed clinical information from case notes, exercising sound judgement where documentation is unclear or requires clarification
Ensuring coded data is submitted accurately and within required deadlines
Supporting accurate HRG allocation to inform the Trust's income through the NHS Payment Scheme
Liaising professionally with clinicians and colleagues to resolve coding queries
Managing your own caseload independently, prioritising effectively to meet deadlines
Maintaining ACC accreditation through ongoing professional development
Handling patient information in line with data protection and confidentiality standardsWhat we're looking for:
ACC accredited (National Clinical Coding Qualification) - essential
Proven experience as a Clinical Coder within an NHS Trust setting
Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications and coding standards
Good understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Confident using hospital patient administration systems (PAS) and Microsoft Office
Ability to work independently, manage a busy caseload, and meet deadlines
