Fire Alarm Engineer - Install/Service
Location: North East – New castle to Middlesborough (occasional Scotland)
Salary: Up to £40,000 basic + overtime, call-out payments and company benefits
Company van with personal use | Paid door-to-door travel | 25 days holiday + bank holidays
Are you an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer looking for a varied role with excellent earning potential, paid travel and opportunities to develop your technical skills?
The company is looking for a versatile Small Works & Install/Service Engineer to join our growing team in the North East. You’ll deliver minor installation works, system upgrades, additions and remedial works across a range of fire systems, ensuring every job is completed to a high standard and in line with relevant British Standards. It is about a 70/30 between install and service.
The Role
Working across a variety of customer sites, your responsibilities will include:
Installing and commissioning fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, door-entry systems and other building safety equipment.
Carrying out system upgrades, additions, minor works and remedial works.
Interpreting installation plans, site drawings and technical specifications.
Completing cable routing, component installation, system configuration and commissioning.
Diagnosing and resolving faults efficiently.
Replacing faulty emergency lighting.
Completing certification, service reports and job documentation accurately.
Building strong relationships with customers and providing clear technical advice.
Participating in an emergency call-out rota with additional call-out pay.
Ensuring all work complies with British Standards and Health & Safety requirements.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll ideally have:
At least 2 years' technical experience in small works, installation or service engineering within fire, security, telecoms, AV or a related technical discipline.
Experience working with fire alarms – they have a lot of GENT systems but training is provided
Strong fault-finding and technical problem-solving skills.
A full UK driving licence.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Strong report-writing and IT skills.
The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
Qualifications such as FIA, IPAF, PASMA or First Aid would be advantageous, as would manufacturer-specific training on systems such as Honeywell, GENT, Advance although these are not essential.
