Skilled Inspector (Level 3)

£16.21 per hour + £4.80 per hour Night Shift Allowance (£21.01 per hour)
Night Shift - Monday to Thursday, 10:00pm - 7:30am
Permanent | Full-Time | 38 Hours Per Week

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Skilled Inspector to join a leading manufacturing organisation on a permanent night shift. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this position plays a critical role in ensuring products are manufactured and inspected to the highest quality standards whilst maintaining full traceability and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting components and assemblies throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, quality standards and customer requirements. Working closely with Production and Quality teams, the Inspector will help promote a right-first-time culture across the business. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, Ash, this is an excellent opportunity for a time-served engineer looking to join a well-established manufacturer.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out First-Off and Patrol Inspections.
Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
Conduct final inspection of completed assemblies before despatch.
Maintain accurate inspection and test records.
Support Quality Assurance activities and internal audits.
Liaise with Production and Quality teams regarding corrective and preventative actions.
Use measuring and inspection equipment to verify component conformity.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
Follow quality procedures and 5S principles.Essential Skills & Experience

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and quality plans.
Experience using precision measuring equipment including Verniers, Micrometers and Bowers gauges.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Good computer literacy and experience recording inspection data.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Experience inspecting machined components within a manufacturing environment. Desirable Experience

Inspection experience across milling, turning and welding disciplines.
Experience using CMM equipment and Faro Arm systems.
Tessa Scan experience.
NDT testing experience.
Knowledge of valve assembly or other precision-engineered products.Qualifications

Time-served Mechanical Engineer or equivalent engineering qualification is essential.The Person

Strong work ethic and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Reliable, self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs.
Keen to learn new skills and contribute to continuous improvement.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
