About the Role

Coventry City Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join the Children's Help and Protection Team within the South locality. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and motivated social work professional to work within a supportive case-holding team, helping to safeguard children and improve outcomes for families across Coventry.

Rate: £33.30 per hour (Umbrella)

As a Senior Practitioner within the South Social Worker Case holding Team, you will work with children and families requiring statutory intervention, providing high-quality assessments, safeguarding support and care planning.

You will play a key role in supporting complex casework, promoting best practice and ensuring that children receive timely and effective services that meet their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

Managing a caseload of approximately 20 children and families
Undertaking assessments and developing effective plans
Working with children in need of support and protection
Managing child protection and safeguarding interventions
Building positive relationships with children, families and partner agencies
Contributing to high-quality decision-making and risk assessment
Maintaining accurate and timely case recording
Supporting the delivery of excellent social work practice within the teamRequirements

Social Work qualification
Current Social Work England registration
3+ years post-qualified experience within Children's Services
Strong experience of safeguarding and child protection work
Excellent assessment, planning and analytical skills
The ability to manage complex cases and competing priorities
A child-focused and outcome-driven approach to practice
Strong communication and partnership-working skillsWorking Arrangements

Location: 257 Stretton Avenue, Coventry, CV3 3HQ
