Learning Support Assistant - PRU - Islington
Full Time | Term Time Only | ASAP & September Starts Available

Long Term Futures are recruiting a number of dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistants to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Islington, supporting students across both the Primary and Secondary phases.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people who require additional support to re-engage with education. Working within a specialist environment, you'll support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and additional learning needs, helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally.
These roles are ideal for individuals looking to build a career in education, mentoring, youth work, psychology or teaching, offering invaluable experience within a highly rewarding setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils across the Primary and Secondary phases
Support students with SEMH, challenging behaviour and additional needs
Implement behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
Build positive relationships that promote engagement and attendance
Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and senior leaders
Encourage confidence, resilience and positive outcomes for every student
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs
Confidence working in a PRU, alternative provision or school setting (desirable)
A calm, resilient and proactive approach
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management strategies
A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching, mentoring, pastoral support or education
Location & Transport - Islington, North London
Accessible via Highbury & Islington (Victoria Line & Overground)
