Long Term Futures is recruiting a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school and sixth form in Wandsworth. This full-time opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their academic potential.

Working across Key Stages 3, 4 and Post-16, you will provide classroom-based support alongside teaching staff, helping students with a range of additional learning needs access lessons, develop independent learning skills, and make positive progress both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

Provide classroom-based support for students across KS3, KS4 and Sixth Form.
Deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions to reinforce learning and improve student progress.
Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language needs, and mild SEMH.
Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual student needs and maximise engagement.
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to implement effective support strategies.
Encourage students to develop confidence, independence and positive study habits both in and out of the classroom.
Assist with the delivery of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning programmes where appropriate.
Monitor student engagement and progress, providing regular feedback to teaching staff.
Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Build positive relationships with students, helping them develop socially, emotionally and academically.
Essential Candidate Requirements

Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Cover Supervisor or in a similar education or youth support role.
Experience supporting secondary-aged students is desirable.
A good understanding of Special Educational Needs and inclusive classroom practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
A patient, proactive and adaptable approach to supporting young people.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
A genuine passion for education and helping young people succeed.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
