We are looking for an organised and proactive Transport Planner to join a busy operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with transport planning experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
As a Transport Planner, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of our transport operations, working closely with drivers, customers, and the operations team to provide an outstanding service.
What You'll Be Doing
* Plan, allocate and monitor transport jobs to ensure timely collections and deliveries.
* Allocate vehicles and trailers to meet operational requirements.
* Respond quickly to changes in schedules and resolve any transport issues or delays.
* Liaise with customers to confirm collection and delivery times and provide regular updates.
* Maintain regular communication with drivers, offering support and clear operational instructions.
* Arrange transport documentation, permits, customs paperwork (including Carnets where required), ferry bookings, and driver requirements.
* Ensure transport operations comply with current legislation and industry regulations.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, drivers, suppliers, and colleagues.
* Identify opportunities to support business growth by developing new customer relationships.
* Participate in an out-of-hours support rota when required.
The successful candidate will have:
* Previous experience in transport planning or a similar logistics role.
* Strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
* Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
* The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy operational environment.
* Strong communication and customer service skills.
* High attention to detail and excellent time management.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A flexible approach and willingness to support operational needs, including occasional evenings and weekends.
