Sewing Machinist
Pay: £12.71 - £13.50 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday- 8am to 2.30pm
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Sewing Machinist to join a busy manufacturing team producing high-quality upholstered furniture. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has excellent attention to detail, and enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment. Successful candidate will have previous experience using industrial sewing machines and be confident sewing a range of upholstery fabrics and materials to a consistently high standard. Experience within the furniture or upholstery industry is highly desirable, although candidates with strong industrial sewing experience from other manufacturing sectors will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a range of industrial sewing machines safely and efficiently.
Sew fabric, leather, and other upholstery materials to production specifications.
Assemble and stitch furniture covers and upholstery components with precision.
Read and interpret production drawings, patterns, and work instructions.
Carry out quality checks throughout the sewing process to ensure products meet company standards.
Identify and report any material defects or quality concerns.
Work closely with upholsterers and other production team members to ensure smooth workflow.
Meet daily production targets while maintaining exceptional quality.
Perform basic machine maintenance, including cleaning and changing needles where required.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with health and safety procedures.Requirements:
Previous experience operating industrial sewing machines is essential.
Experience sewing upholstery, furniture, or heavy-duty fabrics is preferred.
Furniture manufacturing experience is highly advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality workmanship.
Ability to work from patterns, measurements, and production instructions.
Good hand-eye coordination and excellent manual dexterity.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Reliable, hardworking, and able to work efficiently to production deadlines.
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.What We Offer:
