Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Engineering Technician on behalf of our client.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist manufacturing business producing high-quality rigid gas permeable contact lenses. Working within a small and friendly engineering team, the successful candidate will be involved in the complete manufacturing process from start to finish, producing highly specialised products whilst maintaining exceptional quality standards and customer service.
Job Description
The purpose of this role is to manufacture a portfolio of specialist contact lenses whilst ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy and customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining specialist machinery, managing your own workload and supporting the efficient day-to-day running of the production laboratory.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Operate CNC lathes and specialist manufacturing equipment.
* Carry out polishing, blocking and finishing processes.
* Perform laser engraving and lens modification activities.
* Complete final cleaning, inspection and packaging of finished products.
* Conduct technical measurements and accurately record production data.
* Ensure all products meet strict quality standards and specifications.
* Manage production priorities based on customer requirements and production schedules.
* Monitor and maintain stock levels of raw materials used within the manufacturing process.
* Carry out routine machinery calibration and preventative maintenance.
* Support the efficient day-to-day running of the laboratory and manufacturing operation.
* Maintain accurate production and quality records.
* Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production environment.
* Develop specialist product knowledge to support future training and customer guidance.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties as required.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
* Engineering background is essential.
* Previous CNC machining or lathe operating experience is advantageous.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
* Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Good mathematical understanding and engineering knowledge.
* Ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Willingness to learn specialist manufacturing processes.
* Optical manufacturing or laboratory experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
Hours
* Monday to Friday
* 8:00am – 4:00pm
* Full-time, Permanent
Salary
From £30,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
