An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Manager to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business supplying specialist products into a range of industrial sectors.

The Role

As Technical Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary technical team responsible for product design, manufacturing and engineering. You'll take ownership of technical strategy, process development and new product introduction, while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

This is a highly influential position, working closely with senior leadership to develop future manufacturing capability, implement a new ERP system and support long-term business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and CNC Programmers.
Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from concept through to production.
Take ownership of manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality and safety.
Develop technical strategy to support future business growth and increased production capacity.
Lead process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, HSE and Commercial teams.
Manage factory layout planning, process optimisation and CAPEX projects.
Support the implementation and ongoing development of a new ERP system.
Drive innovation through new technologies, automation and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
Own engineering standards, technical governance and change management processes.
Mentor and develop the technical team, identifying skills gaps and supporting career development.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have a strong engineering background combined with proven leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.

You will ideally possess:

HNC/HND or Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline.
Previous experience leading technical or manufacturing engineering teams.
Strong knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering or CNC Programming.
Proven experience delivering New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
Excellent understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
Experience planning manufacturing layouts, process flow and production efficiencies.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Experience managing departmental budgets and technical projects.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
ERP or MES implementation experience would be advantageous.
