Talent STEM are partnering with a well-established chemical manufacturing organisation with a strong reputation for quality, technical expertise and manufacturing excellence across specialist chemical products.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Analytical Chemist to join their laboratory team.

This is a hands-on analytical role with a strong emphasis on Gas Chromatography (GC), supporting quality control and manufacturing through routine analysis, investigations and continuous improvement activities.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Analytical Chemist looking to join a successful chemical manufacturing business.

The successful candidate will spend much of their time using Gas Chromatography (GC) alongside HPLC, FTIR, Karl Fischer and classical wet chemistry techniques to analyse raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

Strong practical GC experience is essential. HPLC experience is also required, but applicants with extensive GC experience and more limited HPLC exposure are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyse raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

- Perform routine and non-routine testing using Gas Chromatography (GC).

- Carry out analysis using HPLC, FTIR and Karl Fischer instrumentation.

- Perform wet chemistry including titrations and related analytical techniques.

- Prepare samples, standards and reagents.

- Review, interpret and report analytical data.

- Support investigations into out-of-specification (OOS) results.

- Maintain and calibrate analytical instrumentation.

- Complete laboratory documentation in accordance with quality procedures.

- Support continuous improvement within the laboratory.

- Work closely with production and technical teams.

- Ensure compliance with HSE, COSHH and laboratory quality standards.

About You

We're looking for an Analytical Chemist with industrial laboratory experience gained within chemical manufacturing, pharmaceuticals or a similar process industry.

You will have:

- A degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.

- Previous experience within an industrial analytical laboratory.

- Strong hands-on Gas Chromatography (GC) experience.

- Experience using HPLC (working knowledge is acceptable where GC is a strength).

- Experience with FTIR and Karl Fischer would be advantageous.

- Wet chemistry experience including titrations.

- Strong attention to detail and excellent record keeping.

- Good understanding of laboratory quality systems and safe working practices.

- The ability to manage multiple priorities within a manufacturing environment.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a respected chemical manufacturer where analytical science plays a key role in product quality and manufacturing.

You'll join a supportive laboratory team, work with a wide range of analytical techniques and have genuine opportunities to develop your technical expertise within an established manufacturing environment.

Applicants must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship, and we are unable to consider applicants who require sponsorship now or in the future.
