Job Title: Sheet Metal Worker

Salary: £20.00 per hour
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sheet Metal Worker to join our Sheet Metal Department. The successful candidate will manufacture and assemble high-quality aluminium body panels and coach-built components using traditional sheet metal techniques. Working as part of a highly skilled team, you will play a vital role in producing handcrafted vehicles that meet the highest standards of craftsmanship, quality, and precision.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacture bespoke automotive body panels using traditional sheet metal fabrication techniques.
Shape and form components using hammer-forming and panel beating methods.
Perform high-quality TIG (primarily aluminium) and MIG welding while controlling distortion and maintaining structural integrity.
Assemble, fit, and prepare body panels and Body-in-White (BIW) assemblies for the paint process.
Carry out general sheet metal fabrication and repair work in line with production schedules.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Operate manufacturing jigs, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
Ensure all work meets required quality standards and production targets.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across production departments to achieve manufacturing objectives.
Skills and Experience
Recognised qualification in Sheet Metal, Fabrication, Welding, or Engineering (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication and automotive body panel manufacture.
Strong TIG and MIG welding skills, particularly with aluminium.
Experience preparing Body-in-White (BIW) assemblies and panels for painting.
Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
Previous experience within automotive manufacturing or a structured production environment is desirable.
Familiarity with manufacturing jigs and production processes.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality during repetitive production tasks.
