Shape the Future of Advanced Engineering Systems
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Test Architect to join a highly advanced engineering organisation developing complex, safety-critical products used in some of the world's most demanding environments.
This is a key technical leadership position, offering the opportunity to influence product development from concept through to delivery, ensuring that testability is embedded into the design of sophisticated electronic and electro-mechanical systems.
If you thrive at the intersection of systems engineering, electronics, verification, and technical leadership, this role offers the chance to make a significant impact within a growing and highly respected engineering team.
The Opportunity
As a Lead Test Architect, you will be responsible for defining and driving the overall test strategy for complex products, ensuring that robust testing and diagnostic capabilities are designed into systems from the outset.
Working closely with design, systems, manufacturing, integration, and project teams, you will lead the development of product testability requirements, oversee the specification of test solutions, and ensure that verification activities deliver the required levels of confidence throughout the product lifecycle.
You will also play a key leadership role within the engineering function, mentoring technical specialists, influencing design decisions, and helping shape future engineering capability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of Test Architects and technical specialists.
Define product-level test strategies and ensure testability requirements are embedded within system designs.
Specify and oversee the development of complex test equipment and test solutions.
Work closely with design, systems, and manufacturing teams to ensure effective verification and diagnostic coverage.
Develop and manage lower-level test requirements across multiple engineering disciplines.
Analyse system architectures to identify test coverage gaps and recommend improvements.
Support the creation of diagnostic strategies, fault isolation approaches, and built-in test capabilities.
Influence design decisions by balancing performance, cost, risk, and test coverage considerations.
Provide technical leadership across projects and support engineering governance activities.
Engage with senior stakeholders and customers to communicate technical solutions and project progress.
Contribute to departmental strategy, capability development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from experienced engineers who can demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Product testability engineering
Test equipment design and development
Electronics test systems
Systems verification and validation
Integration and test engineering
Electronic or electrical engineering
Successful applicants are likely to have:
Significant experience working on complex, high-integrity engineering systems.
Strong understanding of test architecture, verification, validation, and diagnostics.
Experience of specifying or developing automated or semi-automated test solutions.
Knowledge of digital electronics, microprocessor-based systems, analogue electronics, or electronic test methodologies.
Proven leadership experience, either through direct people management or technical leadership roles.
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
Experience managing technical requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle.
The ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams and deliver practical solutions to complex technical challenges.
Why Apply?
This is an opportunity to join an organisation at the forefront of advanced engineering innovation, where technical excellence is genuinely valued and where your work will directly contribute to the development of highly sophisticated technology.
You'll benefit from:
Competitive salary
Performance-related bonus
Generous pension scheme
Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
Enhanced family-friendly policies
Healthcare and wellbeing benefits
Professional development and career progression opportunities
Collaborative, inclusive, and supportive engineering culture
Ideal Backgrounds
