Graduate Production Engineer
Location: Sandy, Bedfordshire
Salary: £28,000 to £32,000 DOE
Coates Recruitment is working with an established and growing engineering manufacturer looking to recruit a Graduate Production Engineer to join its engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate, or someone with a year or two of industry experience, who is looking to develop their career within manufacturing and production engineering. You’ll work closely with Design, Production and Projects, helping to improve manufacturability, support production and contribute to new product development.
The role offers excellent exposure to CAD, manufacturing processes, production engineering and continuous improvement, making it an ideal first step into a varied engineering career.
Key Responsibilities
* Review engineering drawings, part set-ups and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
* Work with Design Engineers to improve manufacturability and production efficiency
* Support the factory by resolving production and manufacturing issues
* Update CAD drawings and engineering documentation where required
* Create and maintain parts, BOMs and routings within the ERP system
* Prepare engineering drawings for manufacture
* Assist with the design of production jigs and fixtures
* Support product development projects and engineering documentation
* Work closely with Production, Design and Project teams to deliver engineering solutions
Suitable applicants are likely to have experience with:
* Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
* 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks
* Sheet metal design or fabrication knowledge
* Engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
* Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation
* Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail
* ERP/MRP systems (advantageous)
* Good communication skills and a willingness to learn within a manufacturing environment
