Job Title Project Quality Control Engineer
Summary
We are looking for an experienced Project Quality Control Engineer to join a major project based at our client’s Leicester site. This role is ideal for professionals with strong inspection and quality management experience within highly regulated sectors such as nuclear engineering. The successful candidate will ensure supplier compliance and manage all quality control activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Salary £40–£45 per hour (Umbrella)
Location and Working Pattern Leicester – Radar Road (on-site)
Contract duration: 12 months
Client Overview Our client operates within the nuclear engineering sector, delivering high-quality projects to strict regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Liaise with customers to define quality assurance and inspection requirements.
Review and approve supplier quality arrangements, including QCPs, weld schedules, and NDT procedures.
Attend supply chain kick-off meetings and ensure compliance with quality requirements.
Set inspection assignments for Inspectors and arrange inspections as required.
Carry out inspections of equipment, witness NDT and functional testing.
Review documentation such as welding records, test documentation, and NDT reports.
Manage Life Time Records and ensure timely reporting of inspections.
Prepare project quality documentation and create project-specific procedures where necessary.Must-have Requirements
Good working knowledge of ISO 9001 and relevant industry regulations.
Experience in developing Quality Control Plans and Inspection & Test Plans.
Previous experience in fabrication, welding, NDT, and mechanical inspection.
Proven background within the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors.
Excellent communication and customer liaison skills.
Computer literate with MS Office applications.
Must be able to obtain Nuclear Security Check (SC) clearance.
Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas.Nice-to-have Skills
HNC (or equivalent) in engineering or a similar discipline.
CSWIP 3.1 or PCN Level 2 weld inspection qualification.
Additional NDT qualifications.
Auditor training.
