General Teaching Assistant (KS1/SEN) - Heysham Primary School

Veritas Education are seeking an enthusiastic and supportive Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Heysham on a full-time basis from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA who enjoys supporting children across the primary age range, with a particular focus on pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday
8:30am - 3:15pm
Full-time

The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers to support learning and development across the school, with a particular emphasis on supporting pupils with additional needs. The school would particularly welcome applicants with experience working within Key Stage 1 and supporting children with a range of SEN needs.

Responsibilities will include:

Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.
Delivering small-group and 1:1 interventions.
Assisting pupils with SEND to access learning activities.
Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement.
Supporting children's social, emotional and academic development.
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and parents where required.
Helping to create a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school.
Experience supporting children with SEN.
KS1 experience would be highly desirable.
A patient, adaptable and caring approach.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
