Salary: £100–£101.10 per day

Teach Now is recruiting a dedicated General Teaching Assistant to support lower-attaining learners at a successful secondary school and sixth form in Watford. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys making a real difference by helping students build confidence, overcome barriers to learning, and achieve academic success.

The school is a thriving and inclusive academy serving over 1,300 students aged 11–19. Known for its strong academic outcomes, excellent facilities and supportive environment, it provides an ideal setting for a Teaching Assistant looking to develop their skills and experience.

The Role

As a General Teaching Assistant, you will support students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 who require additional help to access learning and make progress.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Assisting lower-attaining learners during lessons
• Delivering targeted literacy and numeracy interventions
• Encouraging student engagement, confidence and independence
• Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
• Working closely with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral teams

Requirements
• Experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work or support setting
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Patient, positive and resilient approach
• Ability to motivate students who may lack confidence in their learning
• Commitment to inclusion and raising achievement for all learners
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent

Desirable Experience
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant
• Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH or learning difficulties
• Knowledge of intervention programmes and strategies for lower-attaining learners
