We are recruiting an ambitious and motivated Assistant Production Manager to support the day‑to‑day running of a fast‑paced food manufacturing operation. This role is ideal for a strong supervisor or team leader ready to take the next step into management, or an existing assistant manager seeking a new challenge within a high‑care, high‑risk environment.
Working closely with the Production Manager, you will help lead teams, deliver shift performance, maintain compliance, and support continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
*
Support the Production Manager in leading and coordinating daily production activities across the shift.
*
Manage and motivate production teams to deliver safe, efficient and compliant operations.
*
Assist with labour planning, resource allocation and production scheduling.
*
Maintain high standards of GMP, hygiene, allergen control and food safety.
*
Monitor KPIs and support performance reporting, identifying opportunities for improvement.
*
Conduct investigations, support disciplinary processes and manage staff performance.
*
Deliver training, coaching and capability development for team leaders and operatives.
*
Support internal and external audits, ensuring the shift remains audit‑ready at all times.
*
Work collaboratively with Technical, Engineering, Planning and HR to ensure smooth operations.
*
Champion a positive, safe and inclusive working environment.
Candidate Requirements
*
Experience as a Production Supervisor, Team Leader, Senior Operative, or Assistant Production Manager within food manufacturing or FMCG.
*
Strong people leadership skills with confidence managing teams.
*
Knowledge of food safety compliance, GMP and H&S standards.
*
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.
*
Ability to communicate clearly and influence across departments.
*
Comfortable working in high‑care / high‑risk environments (advantageous).
*
Ambition to progress into full production management.
