Art Technician - London Heathrow - Up to £40,000

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fine Art Technician to join our clients specialist art logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe handling, packing, transportation, installation, and storage of artworks. This role requires a high level of professionalism, technical ability, discretion, and a strong commitment to best practices in fine art handling and logistics.

Key Responsibilities

Safely handle, pack, and transport a wide range of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, installations, and other delicate objects.
Assist with and carry out the installation and de-installation of artworks at galleries, museums, private residences, exhibitions, and art fairs.
Load and unload artworks from vehicles using appropriate lifting, handling, and securing techniques to ensure their safe transportation.
Conduct detailed condition checks before and after transit, reporting any discrepancies or damage.
Complete and maintain accurate documentation, including condition reports, packing lists, and inventory records.
Liaise professionally with clients, conservators, registrars, couriers, and other stakeholders throughout each project.
Ensure all tools, vehicles, packing materials, and equipment are maintained in good working order.
Support warehouse operations, including artwork intake, inventory management, storage, and organisation.
Travel throughout the UK and occasionally internationally to support installations, exhibitions, and specialist projects.
Adhere to all health and safety procedures, company policies, and industry best practices when handling valuable and fragile artworks.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience within a fine art handling, art logistics, museum, gallery, or specialist removals environment.
Strong knowledge of industry best practices relating to art handling, packing, transportation, and installation.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to handle valuable and fragile items with care.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, and travel when required.
Previous experience in fine art handling or specialist logistics is essential.
Full UK driving licence (essential for role requirements).
Capable of lifting and moving artworks safely using appropriate manual handling techniques.
Willingness to travel throughout the UK and occasionally overseas.
