Astute's Renewables team is partnered with an internationally recognised utility-scale solar developer and operator with a strong track record in delivering and managing renewable energy assets across multiple markets to recruit multiple Technical Control Room Operators to be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow regions.

The Technical Control Room Operator role offers a salary of up to £37,500 DOE, along with a pension scheme, private healthcare, bonus scheme, and flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities and duties of the Technical Control Room Operator role

Reporting to the Control Centre Team Lead you will:

Control and coordinate authorised site access activities, ensuring correct approvals and communication trails are maintained.
Provide continuous oversight of wind, solar PV, and BESS assets using SCADA and operational monitoring platforms.
Identify operational alarms, system irregularities, and equipment issues, taking appropriate first-line action.
Record and maintain accurate operational data, shift logs, and asset performance history.
Support the implementation of safe isolation, handover, and return-to-service processes under applicable safety rules.
Communicate with field engineers, contractors, and internal teams to support planned and reactive operations.
Escalate operational, safety, or compliance incidents in line with defined procedures.
Monitor weather conditions and issue operational updates where conditions may impact asset safety or performance.
Contribute to improvements in control room processes, reporting tools, and operational workflows.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Previous experience in a control room, operations centre, or SCADA-based monitoring role within power generation or renewables.
Understanding of wind turbine safety procedures and controlled operational environments.
Strong IT proficiency and confidence working across multiple systems simultaneously.
Ability to interpret live operational data and respond appropriately to system alerts.
Awareness of health, safety, and operational risk within an energy environment.

Personal skills

The Technical Control Room Operator role would suit someone who is:

Calm and structured in approach when working under pressure or managing live incidents.
Highly accurate with strong attention to operational detail and documentation.
Clear and confident in communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
