Manchester City Council's Children's Services have been rated Outstanding by OFSTED, and we are currently looking for an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join the highly regarded Kinship Fostering Team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in helping children remain connected to their families by assessing, supporting and developing kinship foster placements that provide stability, safety and positive outcomes.

The Role

As a Supervising Social Worker within the Kinship Fostering Team, you will:

Complete comprehensive kinship fostering assessments
Undertake court-directed assessments and prepare high-quality reports
Assess the suitability of family members and connected persons as foster carers
Provide ongoing support, supervision and guidance to approved kinship carers
Work closely with children's social workers, legal teams and multi-agency partners
Ensure compliance with fostering regulations, legislation and safeguarding procedures
Participate in the duty rota as required

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

✅ Social Work England Registration

✅ Qualified Social Worker (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)

✅ Experience within Fostering, Kinship, Connected Persons or Family & Friends Assessments

✅ Strong report-writing and assessment skills

✅ Sound knowledge of fostering legislation, safeguarding and child protection procedures

✅ Ability to manage competing priorities and court timescales effectively

✅ Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
