Process Engineer - Bioprocess Development

We are seeking a Process Engineer to join an innovative and fast-growing biotechnology business developing next-generation bioprocesses. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in scaling up novel fermentation and tissue engineering processes, supporting the transition from R&D through pilot-scale development and towards commercial manufacture.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to bioprocess design, process optimisation, scale-up activities and experimental programmes, helping to maximise process performance and product yield. The role offers exposure to cutting-edge technology and the opportunity to make a real impact within a highly collaborative environment

Key Responsibilities

Support the development and scale-up of fermentation and bioprocessing technologies.
Translate R&D concepts into practical engineering solutions for pilot and commercial applications.
Design, execute and analyse process development experiments.
Work closely with scientists, engineers and external partners to test and improve process designs.
Contribute to process documentation, SOPs and quality systems.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
Promote safe working practices and contribute to a strong engineering culture.Essential Requirements

Degree in Chemical Engineering (BEng, MEng or equivalent).
Minimum of 2 years' industry experience within a biotechnology, food, pharmaceutical, bioprocessing or related manufacturing environment.
Hands-on fermentation process experience.
Strong understanding of process engineering fundamentals, including mass transfer and fluid dynamics.
Experience working within project-driven environments and delivering against milestones.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.Desirable Experience

Bio-reactor (bioreactor) design, operation or scale-up experience.
Exposure to pilot plant or process commissioning activities.
Knowledge of downstream processing or separation technologies.
Experience within bioprocess development, cellular agriculture, food technology or related sectors.What's on Offer
