Food Technology Teacher
Inspire the Next Generation of Designers, Creators and Food Innovators
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated Food Technology & Design Technology Teacher to join our successful Design & Technology faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students through engaging practical and theoretical learning experiences that develop creativity, technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of nutrition and food science.
We are looking for a teacher who is committed to raising achievement, promoting high standards, and helping students develop confidence, independence, and resilience in a supportive learning environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
Teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Deliver Key Stage 3 Design & Technology lessons, covering areas such as design processes, product design, materials, manufacturing techniques, sustainability, and practical making skills.
Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and inclusive lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
Develop students' practical, creative, and analytical skills through a range of hands-on projects.
Support students in applying design thinking, problem-solving, and evaluation skills throughout the design and making process.
Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing effective feedback to promote achievement.
Maintain a safe, organised, and stimulating learning environment in accordance with health and safety requirements.
Contribute to curriculum planning, development, and enrichment opportunities within the Design & Technology department.
Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance, and student engagement.
Support extracurricular activities, competitions, and enrichment programmes that enhance students' learning experiences.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and contribute to departmental improvement.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
Has the ability to teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4 and Design & Technology at Key Stage 3.
Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and a passion for practical learning.
Has excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Maintains high expectations for student achievement, behaviour, and personal development.
Is committed to inclusive education and ensuring all students can succeed.
Works effectively as part of a collaborative and supportive team.
