Food Technology Teacher – September 2026

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Kingston upon Thames from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an inspirational teacher who is passionate about food education and committed to equipping students with practical cooking skills, nutritional knowledge and an understanding of healthy living. Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

The Role

You will:

Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 for suitably experienced candidates.

*

Teach students practical cooking skills, food preparation techniques and food hygiene principles.

*

Promote an understanding of nutrition, healthy eating and food science.

*

Assess, monitor and support student progress through effective feedback and intervention.

*

Ensure the safe use of kitchen equipment and maintain high standards of health and safety during practical lessons.

*

Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes high expectations and excellent behaviour.

*

Contribute to the wider Design and Technology department and school community.

*

Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and continually improve teaching and learning.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will have:

*

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

*

A degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, Hospitality or a related subject.

*

Experience teaching Food Technology within a UK secondary school (placements considered for ECTs).

*

Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging practical and theoretical lessons.

*

Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

*

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
