Baby Room Leader - Early Years
Location: Westminster, London
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours, Monday-Friday)
About the Role
Hays Education are working in partnership with a well-established and high-quality nursery setting in Westminster to recruit a dedicated and experienced Baby Room Leader.
This is a fantastic opportunity for passionate Early Years professional to take the lead in a baby room, supporting children aged 6 months to 2 years within a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment.
The role combines hands-on childcare with leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for an experienced Room Leader, Third in Charge, or an aspiring Deputy Manager ready for the next step.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day running of the baby room
Deliver high-quality care, safeguarding, and learning opportunities
Support babies' routines, including feeding, sleeping, and personal care
Build strong, secure attachments with children and positive relationships with families
Monitor and track children's development in line with EYFS
Coach and support team members through role modelling and supervision
Ensure compliance with EYFS, Ofsted standards, and internal policies
Maintain accurate records and documentation
Support transitions, settling-in processes, and parental engagementRequirements
Essential:
Level 3 (or above) qualification in Early Years
Strong knowledge of EYFS, particularly birth to 2 years
Experience working with children aged 6 months to 2 years
Experience leading or supporting a team within a nursery setting
Sound understanding of safeguarding and health & safety requirements
Excellent communication and organisational skillsDesirable:
Experience supporting staff development (e.g. coaching or peer observations)
Knowledge of Ofsted frameworks and inspection readiness
Additional language skills (e.g. Mandarin)Personal Qualities
Warm, nurturing, and patient approach
Reliable, organised, and proactive
Passionate about high-quality childcare and early development
Ability to motivate and inspire a team
