Portfolio are partnering with a multi‑sited practice with a diverse client base to recruit a hands‑on, technically strong Payroll Manager who can lead a high‑performing team while delivering exceptional support to clients.
The Payroll Manager will take ownership of end‑to‑end payroll operations across multiple locations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and outstanding client service. You will oversee a team of payroll specialists, manage complex payroll queries, and act as a trusted advisor to clients across various sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop payroll staff to maintain high standards of accuracy and service.
Oversee complex payroll processing, statutory compliance, audits, and HMRC requirements.
Build strong relationships and deliver tailored payroll solutions to a varied client base.
Drive efficiency, automation, and best practice across multi‑site operations.
Ensure effective use of payroll systems, including Staffology, and champion continuous improvement.
Requirements & Ideal Candidate Profile
Proven technical payroll expertise, ideally within a multi‑site or bureau environment.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing payroll teams.
Excellent client‑facing skills, able to support a diverse portfolio across sectors.
Experience with the Staffology software would be desirable
Comfortable handling complex queries, statutory compliance, audits, and process improvements.
Proactive, solutions‑focused, and able to work hands‑on when required.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑site environment.
