Fire Door Surveyor – Temp Contract (Care Homes)
Location: Chester & Surrounding Areas
Day Rate: £240 Per Day
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fire door surveyor to pick up a well-structured, ongoing contract working across care home sites in and around Chester. The contract runs until December 2026, working through one scheme at a time with each site taking approximately four to six weeks to complete. This is a rolling programme of surveying and remedial works, offering consistent, well-supported work through to the end of the year.
The role requires someone who is not only technically strong but also personable, patient and sensitive to the needs of residents in care home environments. Strong communication skills and a caring approach are essential.
The Role
As Fire Door Surveyor, you will carry out BM TRADA condition survey reports on communal doors, riser doors and flat entrance doors across multiple care home sites in the Chester area. Following the survey phase, you will carry out remedial works to bring doors up to a compliant standard, ease and adjust doors to correct gap tolerances, and arrange access appointments directly with residents for flat entrance door inspections.
You will use Bolster to record survey findings and maintain open, professional communication with the client and reception staff throughout.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out BM TRADA condition survey reports on communal doors, riser doors and flat entrance doors
* Ease and adjust doors to bring gaps to a compliant standard
* Carry out remedial works as identified through the survey process
* Arrange appointments directly with residents for flat entrance door inspections
* Record all survey findings accurately using Bolster
* Maintain open and professional communication with the client and reception staff regarding access issues
* Assist with deliveries of new door sets where required
* Work one scheme at a time through to completion — approximately four to six weeks per site
* Maintain a caring, respectful and professional approach when working within occupied care home environments
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience carrying out fire door surveys to BM TRADA standards — essential
* Experience carrying out fire door remedial works including easing, adjusting and gap correction
* Experience using Bolster — essential
* NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry — required
* Fire door surveying certificate — required
* Excellent communication skills — essential
* A caring and patient approach when working within care home or similar sensitive environments — essential
* Ability to liaise professionally with clients, reception staff and residents throughout the works
* Full UK Driving Licence — required
