Contract Load Balancing Engineer (F5 LTM, GTM, APM, ASM, SSLO, AVI, VMware, DNS, Automation) - Chester

Location: Chester (Applicants must live within a 45-minute commute)
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Load Balancing Engineer to join a high-performing Network Engineering team responsible for designing, implementing and supporting enterprise-scale network infrastructure across a complex EMEA environment.

You'll play a key role in delivering technical network solutions, managing load balancing platforms, supporting infrastructure life cycle projects, and working closely with multiple technical teams to ensure highly available, secure and resilient services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer load balancing solutions for new and existing services.

  • Gather, analyse and document technical and application requirements.

  • Produce detailed technical designs aligned with architectural standards and best practices.

  • Configure and deploy network and load balancing services into production.

  • Support hardware refreshes, software upgrades and life cycle management activities.

  • Work collaboratively across infrastructure, security and application teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

  • Participate in implementation planning, scheduling and change management processes.

  • Troubleshoot complex network and load balancing issues across production environments.

  • Identify operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and support successful operational handovers.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years' experience as a Load Balancing Network Engineer.

  • Strong experience with F5 BIG-IP technologies including:

    • LTM

    • GTM (DNS)

    • APM

    • ASM

    • SSLO

  • Experience performing F5 hardware migrations and software upgrades.

  • Experience building and configuring F5 load balancers from the ground up.

  • Knowledge of FIPS modules.

  • Experience with VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer (AVI Networks).

  • Strong understanding of virtual load balancing platforms and supporting infrastructure.

  • Experience developing or maintaining automation scripts.

  • Strong DMZ infrastructure and network engineering experience.

  • Excellent understanding of networking protocols, security principles and best practices.

  • Working knowledge of DNS and IP Address Management (IPAM).

  • Experience troubleshooting complex network and infrastructure issues.

  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative engineering team.
