Our client is a leading healthcare organisation seeking an experienced Director of Information Technology & Security to provide strategic leadership across technology services, infrastructure, cyber security and enterprise architecture.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this is a key executive leadership role responsible for ensuring resilient, secure and innovative technology services that support the delivery of high-quality patient care and organisational transformation.

The Role

You will lead the organisation's technology function, overseeing infrastructure, cloud services, cyber security, enterprise architecture, interoperability, service management and supplier performance. Working closely with executive colleagues, clinicians and operational leaders, you will develop and deliver a technology strategy that enables digital transformation while ensuring operational resilience and service excellence.

You will also be responsible for leading large-scale technology programmes, managing significant technology contracts and suppliers, and ensuring compliance with national standards for cyber security, information governance and digital services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership across IT infrastructure, technology operations and cyber security.
  • Develop and deliver the organisation's technology strategy and roadmap.
  • Lead enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, networks, end-user computing and technical services.
  • Drive cyber security, resilience, disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Lead enterprise architecture and interoperability, supporting modern digital healthcare systems.
  • Manage large outsourced managed service providers and strategic technology partners.
  • Deliver major technology and infrastructure transformation programmes.
  • Lead procurement and contract management for high-value technology services.
  • Develop high-performing technical teams and embed modern service management practices.
  • Build strong relationships with executive stakeholders, clinicians and external partners.

About You

We're looking for an established technology leader who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience leading technology functions within a large, complex organisation.
  • A strong background in IT infrastructure, cloud technologies and enterprise architecture.
  • Extensive cyber security leadership experience.
  • Experience managing outsourced technology services and major supplier relationships.
  • A track record of delivering complex digital and infrastructure transformation programmes.
  • Experience presenting to Boards and Executive teams.
  • Strong commercial, financial and contract management skills.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Experience within healthcare or another highly regulated environment would be highly advantageous.

Desirable Experience

  • Enterprise Architecture (TOGAF or similar)
  • ITIL Service Management
  • Cloud technologies (Azure or equivalent)
  • Cyber Security frameworks (ISO27001, NCSC, DSPT or equivalent)
  • HL7/FHIR interoperability
  • Electronic Patient Record (EPR) platforms such as Epic, Oracle Health or Cerner
